The Lord is my Refuge -Psalm 46:1
My family and I our very excited to call The Refuge Church our home. I was pastoring a youth ministry with my wife, Barbara for 7 years when God placed before us an opportunity of a lifetime to pastor a church in the West Valley.
I have grown up in Phoenix my entire life, so for God to use us at The Refuge Church was an extreme blessing. Whether I was at public school, Grand Canyon University, employment at Costco, or as a pastor at Calvary Community Church, my heart has always been to share Jesus to whomever and The Refuge Church is such a wonderful place to do so as the pastor. I believe people need to know God’s amazing grace that is offered through Jesus Christ.
When I was younger, I read about a man named Joshua in the Bible who was commanded by God to be strong and courageous. That is the type of man I desire to be for the Lord, just as Joshua was in the Bible. 2 Timothy 2:22, reminds me to have a continual pursuit after Jesus in all that I do, no matter where He calls me to lead.
I am not alone in this journey in ministry. My wife, Barbara is a wonderful treasure from the Lord. If you’re married then you will know what I mean when I say this, but she always hears from God first it seems like. I can’t tell you enough how thankful I am to God for her. We have been married since 2002 and have four amazing kids.
The Refuge Church began with several families praying together for a few months, asking God to rebuild a church community in the West Valley, one that would preach Jesus and Him crucified, to have a church lead by the Holy Spirit, and one that would make an impact for eternity. Little did they know we were praying too and today that church exists by all those who now call The Refuge Church home. God has been so faithful the growth of attendance, but more importantly the spiritual growth of those who have attended. Thank you Jesus!
Things that I enjoy: Spending time with my family, reading the bible, drinking ice tea, watching old movies, working out, and anything baseball. If you don’t see me at church, it’s probably because I am sick or in Heaven. Either way, it is a good day, because God is my Refuge!
